How to Point Your Domain to a VPS Server

Point your domain to Ceyora VPS hosting using DNS A records. Connect domain names to your virtual private server in Sri Lanka.

To serve your website from a Ceyora VPS, your domain must point to the server's IP address using DNS A records.

Steps to point domain to VPS
  1. Note your VPS IP address from the welcome email or client portal
  2. Log in to your domain DNS management (Ceyora Zone Editor or external registrar)
  3. Edit or add an A record for @ (root) pointing to your VPS IP
  4. Add an A record for www pointing to the same IP, or use a CNAME from www to root
  5. Save changes and wait for DNS propagation (2–24 hours)
Configure web server on VPS

Ensure Apache/Nginx is running and configured for your domain virtual host before testing. Install SSL with Let's Encrypt (Certbot) once DNS resolves correctly.

Email on VPS

If email stays on Ceyora shared hosting while website moves to VPS, keep MX records pointing to the mail server — do not change MX when only moving the website.
